Why do the bride and groom's families
sit on different sides of the aisle during the ceremony? This custom dates back to ancient marriages between two tribes. A marriage was a tool often used to bring two tribes together by uniting two of their members in marriage. Tribes were constantly fighting in wars, so it was very useful to have allies. But, very often, the tribes had a brutal history. In hopes to avoid a conflict before the ceremony was over, the tribes would be separated during the ceremony. This is why the two families sit on different sides of the aisle. By Nicole Mazzeo Wrapwithus wedding favors |
