Wedding flower girl

The flower girl is usually a younger cousin or niece who is 5-12 years old. Her job is to throw flowers (or petals) down the aisle for the bride to walk on. It is a tradition for the bride to walk on flowers because it was believed that jealous demons lived in the ground and it was bad luck to brush up against them.

The ring barer and flower girl can walk down the aisle together or separate. The flower girl must know when the throw the flowers down the aisle and stop when she reaches the alter. The flower girl has the option to stand at the alter during the ceremony or sitting with her family. You can have a seat waiting in the front row incase she can't handle standing during the wedding. The flower girl usually wears a wreath of flowers and ribbon on her head or has flowers in her hair. This symbolizes innocence and eternity.

During the Middle Ages two flower girls walked down the aisle with armfuls of grain (wheat) or herbs as an offering to the gods of fertility. European weddings have only children as wedding attendants.
