Maid of honor
|
The maid of honor is either a family member
or best friend of the bride. If she is married, her title becomes matron of
honor. The maid of honor helps the bride with all aspects of the wedding, but
is solely in charge of arranging the bridal shower and the bachelorette party.
The maid of honor should seek help planning those events from the bridesmaids
and other friends and family. During the wedding ceremony the maid of honor
holds onto the groom's ring and holds the bride's bouquet during the ring
ceremony. The maid of honor is also one of the official witnesses on the
wedding certificate (The best man is the other official witness). The witnesses
are there to verify that the bride and groom are entering the marriage on their
own free will. The present day society is a lot more liberal and men and women
may choose a male or a female to be the best "man" or the "maid" of
honor. Being a maid of honor is a great honor and a wonderful bonding experience for close friends. Be sure to choose someone who is trustworthy and reliable, someone whose opinion you trust. This job requires a lot of time and effort, and should not be taken lightly. In Victorian times being asked to be a maid of honor was a great honor. Brides usually dressed their maid of honor in a dress as fancy as the bride's in hope to attract her own suitor. By Nicole Mazzeo Wrapwithus wedding favors |
