Wedding music

Very often the music for a wedding ceremony is played on an organ. Sometimes a choir also sings. Talk to your officiant to find out the details for your wedding ceremony site. Some songs that are played at weddings as the bride walks down the aisle are:

• Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Nights Dream” (Played for Queen Victoria’s wedding) • Handle’s “Processional” in g major

• “Here Comes the Bride” (bridal chorus) The music for the ceremony usually is played in this order:

• Prelude Guests start arriving and are seated until the mother of the bride is seated. The prelude entertains guests while they wait for the ceremony to start.

• Processional Starts to play when the mother of the bride is seated

• Ceremony music

• Small piece during the lighting of the unity candle (if appropriate)

• Communion Music (if appropriate)

• Recessional
